I create because I was created. As a sculptor, and creative, I seek to understand the world around me through my work. I’m interested in the mundane, the everyday unseen. I like to work with my hands and I feel that there is a sense of connection and intimacy that takes place when one sits down to throw clay or carve away at a medium. I’ve made art for as long as I can remember, but only within the last two years began studying art formally. In most of my work, I seek to marry function and aesthetic, where balance between the two is seamless.I enjoy the freedom of working with multiple materials and I believe it allows me to explore notions of beauty and cultivate a sense overall cohesiveness to my work. I don’t think it’s necessary to choose just one medium and I’ve never felt the need to focus on one thing in particular. I’ve realized that the growth is found in the process, in the waiting. Therefore, I’m not concerned in the end-product but rather the entire process encompassing the piece at the end. I want others to experience life through my pieces. I want others to know that ultimately, my work is an act of worship, simply giving back what has been so generously given to me.
