Understanding the time and place for a particular style is the challenge all
designers face. Good design uses a style that fits for purpose of the work.
My natural style is whimsical. You’ll catch me doodling random swirls and curls all over my notebooks, and when creating package design or logos that is often my go-to. I’m inspired by Art Nouveau and Gustav Klimt. I have an attraction towards floral patterns, figures with long flowing hair, and flat, decorative illustration.

More recently, my background in Marketing and Web Design has made me adapt to more serious and clean designs. For example, when designing for a marketing campaign, the purpose is to communicate a feeling in order to gain a customer. Web design needs to guide the viewer, and be laid out in simple terms so the viewer can navigate easily; which often eliminates decorative design details. All in all, the layout must reflect the client’s vision and goal. As diverse as my work is, I am able to adapt a different style to whatever a project entails. Although I love going overly decorative with my work, I understand when it is not appropriate versus when it enhances the work.

I took this opportunity to demonstrate my personal style under the

flexible theme, Seasons. Here, I show how my style adapts to the different parts of the year. From Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, each section has a spirit of its own that is recognizable. I believe that feeling can be developed through a logical color palette that is reflected from nature. I play with color and floral shapes to create patterns—applying it to wallpaper and the accompanying package design, creating a series of moods that the we relate to throughout the year.
