SARAH BOWLER

My showcase is based mostly on illustration. My idea is to display how an illustration can exist in different forms. I am fascinated with the different ways illustration can be utilize and incorporated into everyday life. Illustration can influence something to be more a part of culture, not just commerce. I believe graphic designers have that power when their work stems from an artistic expression. I like to explore different creation methods of one illustrative narrative. I want to know what message each scale and form transmits. What will it look like via printing technique? How does it come across at a large scale? What if it becomes a package design? It’s all about the presence and the different connections viewers receive from each interaction. From this exploration, process work is better developed. From understanding the workings of an illustration an artistic style emerges. From different proportions and scales, different connections are made.

Every interaction is an opportunity to make a connection.

That is what is essential about graphic design purpose;

the question: what is the connection?
